While only time will tell who wins the big game when the San Francisco 49ers face the Kansas City Chiefs, 49ers safety Logan Ryan has already won the admiration of animal lovers for his ongoing efforts to help dogs and cats in need. The co-founder of The Ryan Animal Rescue Foundation recently teamed up with television journalist Katie Couric to shine a spotlight on an animal hospital that’s been a real game changer for ill and injured dogs and cats…including one of the four-legged members of Ryan’s own “home team.”
Adopted by the two-time Super Bowl champion back in 2014, Leo required multiple surgeries. When an infection set in after a hip surgery in 2019, Ryan rushed his Pit Bull buddy to a BluePearl pet hospital in Franklin, Tennessee, where surgery saved his life.
Wanting to raise awareness of the vital work of BluePearl pet hospitals as well as highlight diversity among animal care givers, Ryan, his wife and RARF co-founder Ashley, and Katie Couric paid a visit to the animal hospital’s Clearwater, Florida branch for an episode of the digital series Unleashed with Katie Couric.
Ryan Animal Rescue Foundation (RARF)
Established in 2017 by Ryan Logan and his wife Ashley Bragg Ryan, Ryan Animal Rescue Foundation, helps animals in need in numerous ways:
- assistance to animal welfare organizations across the country through grant opportunities
- the Investing in A Diverse Future initiative, which provides funding and resources to help increase people of color in animal welfare and raise awareness of animal-themed businesses or organizations that are owned and/or operated by people of color
- the Team RARF program, a private group for those in the animal welfare industry that helps to promote companion animals who have had a hard time finding a forever home and much more.
BluePearl Pet Hospitals
Beginning with one practice in Florida in 1996, today BluePearl Pet Hospitals are located throughout the United States, with a location closest to you easy to find through a feature on the hospital’s website.
