The begging began at 8 years old. My kid brother and I pleaded with our parents to get a dog for months. They had both grown up with dogs and had many throughout their lives so it wasn’t as if they weren’t against the idea. However, they wanted to wait until we were old enough to help with the responsibilities of having a pet. They finally caved when I was in 4th grade and we adopted Lily, a Belgian malinois mutt, from our local shelter. She was the runt of the litter and very timid.
A couple years later, my mom began volunteering at the local Petsmart where she worked with the cats present at the store. After coming into the store with her a few times, we had made up our minds: we now wanted a cat as well. That’s when we adopted Charlotte, a spicy calico.
Lily unfortunately passed away when I was in highschool. Soon after, we adopted a sweet and rambunctious pitbull named Murphy.
Animals have always been in my life and they always will be.
After graduating from college I began my career in Social Media Marketing. I had a passion for content creation but not for the type of content I was making. That’s when I stumbled upon a job opening at Lucky Dog Animal Rescue for a Social Media and Web Specialist. I applied without a moment’s hesitation and was welcomed into this amazing family with open arms.
Joining the Lucky Dog team truly was a blessing. I am very fortunate to be able to do what I love every day while helping find homes for these wonderful animals. If you love animals and wish to help them, I highly recommend volunteering for Lucky Dog!
